How To Build A Bird House
Birds are one of Mother Nature’s, creatures that have tolerated and even learned to live with us in our hostile and modern houses. You’d be surprised at the nooks and crannies where you might be able to find the houses that they have made for rearing their young, inside a tree hollow, an old pipe and even the gap where the roof and walls of your house meet are all available spaces. Don’t be amazed if you see a couple of strands of grass or some chicks crying out for their parents to bring them food from your roof where there may be some if not a lot of them roosting. There are a lot of suggestions on how to make birdhouses and some have even used simple materials like empty milk cartons to more craftsman type houses made of wood. There are also some things to consider when making birdhouses, are you making them for decorative or practical uses? For decorative uses you can paint them all you want without considering any particular bird’s needs. For more practical applications such as for attracting birds, one has to do research on the particular types and varieties considering them in making the said houses for every species has a particular need in terms of area and size of entry holes. On the following pages we would give an example of a house that can be used for both applications and that is easy to make so let us begin in making our first simple bird house for us and the birds to enjoy.
