Building Cabinets

Cabinets are one of the most common types of storage spaces inside a home. They can come in many forms and shapes and vary from construction according to the purpose they are to serve. Ordinary kitchen and garage storage cabinets can now be easily made using pre- finished doors and other hardware that are readily available at your local home depot. Even etched doors where glass panes are placed into to give the impression of French style cabinet doors to more elaborate add on moldings that give a sense of complexity to an otherwise pre-fabricated cabinet door.

In most modern homes, cabinets are usually constructed of presses wood chips that have been glued together under high pressure to form rigid, durable and cheap ply-board or particle board products. These can be cut to size using circular or other types of power saws that require some experience in their use for safety reasons. In the next parts we would give some tips and steps that can be used to construct a basic sturdy cabinet for your kitchen or garage.

We would be using solid wood products that offer a sense of an all natural construction that is more suited for country style décor and looks. On the other hand there are many pre-fabricated products that can be bought or ordered that come in kit form for those who don’t have much experience with woodworking which is a necessity in this project due to the procedures and techniques that are required to construct a sound cabinet from scratch.
